The current generation Insignia was a big improvement, but next year there will be a new version. The next generation will be sold only as a hatchback, Insignia Grand Sport and Sports Tourer wagon version. The next generation Insignia will feature the new design elements of the new Opel vehicles and Monza concept, but will still be recognisable as an Insignia.

The car’s underpinnings will be GM’s E2XX design, which is also used by the Chevrolet Malibu. The weight of the Insignia Grand Sport will be down by as much as 385 pounds compared to the current one. The Insignia Grand Sport will be larger than the model it replaces. Overall length will be up 2.1 inches while the wheelbase will be up 3.5 in. The car will also be 0.4 in wider.

There will be a choice of 4 cylinder engines to choose from, some as small as 1.5 liters. The performance-oriented OPC variant is also in the pipeline, featuring a twin-turbocharged V-6.
