BMW thinks that it can accommodate another addition to its SUV line-up, the X2. The new X2 will debut in 2018 and it will slot between the X1 crossover and larger X3 SUV. It’s the third Sports Activity Coupe to be launched by BMW, following on from the larger X6 and X4, although the X2 does have a more practical look about it.
The X2 is very likely to use the same cabin as the X1 and it will be based on that car’s UKL2 platform too. Which also underpins the 2 Series Active and Gran Tourer MPVs. This means that the X2 will be the fourth front-wheel drive BMW to join the line-up. Details of the engines haven’t been released, but the familiar firm’s 18d, 20d, 25d turbodiesel and 20i petrol can be expected together with FWD or AWD.
